A translated page can fail in small ways that add up: a keyword in the wrong place, a title in English, a price in the wrong currency. This checklist is what we run before a translated page goes live.
Keywords
Confirm the page targets what the market searches.
- The main keyword is the researched local phrase, not a literal translation.
- It appears in the title, the main heading or the first paragraph.
- Secondary keywords and questions are covered naturally.
- No phrase is repeated so often that it reads oddly.
Copy
Read it as a native buyer would.
- It reads like it was written in this language, not translated.
- Tone and formality fit the market and the brand.
- Facts, numbers and claims match the source and are allowed locally.
- Headings, lists and paragraphs keep the structure of the original.
AI search readiness
Make passages easy to quote.
- Key sections open with a direct answer.
- Local 'People also ask' questions are answered.
- Products, places and standards are named, not referred to as 'it'.
- Lists or tables are used where they genuinely help.
Local details
Small things that break trust.
- Currency, units, date format and phone numbers are local.
- Delivery, legal and contact information fit the country.
- Images and examples make sense for the market.
- Buttons, forms and error messages are translated.
Technical SEO
The page can be found and is connected to its siblings.
- Unique meta title and description in the local language.
- Hreflang tags link all language versions, including itself.
- Self-referencing canonical, and the URL is in the sitemap.
- Structured data and alt text are translated.
Frequently asked questions
Who should run this checklist?
Ideally a native speaker who knows the category, together with whoever owns SEO. The keyword items need the research; the copy items need the native ear.
How long does a check take?
With a clear keyword report, a typical page takes a few minutes for the SEO items and longer for a careful language review.
What should I fix first if I find many issues?
Start with the meta title, the main heading and the main keyword, because they carry the most weight for search. Then fix local details that hurt trust, such as currency and contact information.
